The Initiative Skip the Grid is focused on West Africa. Their aim is to bring solar power and other critical infrastructure to health care systems. The initiative is a division of the Rural Renewable Energy Alliance (RREA) and funded by donations.
Skip the Grid was founded in 2012 inspired by the Northeast Minnesota Women of the Evangelical Lutheran Church in America (ELCA). The basic aim is to skip the electric grid by installing solar microgrids and guaranteeing reliable clean energy for hospitals and reducing the expenditures of the hospitals as well.
